First Gas Out from Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2

Clough, the Australian subsidiary of the Webuild Group, along with the Waitsia Joint Venture, Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU), as operator, and Beach Energy, is proud to announce a major milestone in the development of the Waitsia Gas Project, the achievement of first gas out from the newly commissioned Waitsia Gas Plant, located near Dongara in Western Australia.

The Waitsia Gas Project, one of Australia’s largest onshore gas developments, is a joint venture between Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU, operator) and Beach Energy. The project will provide a reliable supply of domestic gas to Western Australia and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to international markets, strengthening energy security and meeting growing global demand.

Peter Bennett, CEO of Clough, part of Webuild Group, said: “We are proud to have played a key role in delivering this critical infrastructure for Western Australia and the global energy market. This milestone reflects the dedication and expertise of our team and partners, and we look forward to continuing to support projects that drive sustainable growth and energy security.”

About the Project

Clough, part of the Webuild Group, delivered the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning for Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU) and Beach Energy Ltd’s Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2 development, located ~16km southeast of Dongara and 350km north of Perth.

The project has been developed over a staged roll-out and includes the construction of the Waitsia Gas Plant, which will increase the output of the Waitsia Gas Field to 280 terajoules per day with the combined output of the Xyris Production Facility.
