Designs have been revealed for the Osborne Park Hospital expansion, marking a significant milestone in the transformation of the health facility and its role in delivering high-quality health care for women, newborns and families. 

The expansion, being built by Webuild, forms part of the $1.8 billion landmark New Women and Babies Hospital Project, a key component of the Western Australian Government’s ambitious $4.7 billion health infrastructure program. 

The new facilities will be purpose-built for women’s health with the design combining midwifery-led and clinical birthing models with spaces for reflection, celebration and care. 

Natural light, warm materials, views to landscaped courtyards and single-bed rooms will promote wellbeing and privacy, transforming the hospital experience into one that feels personal and reassuring.  

The Osborne Park Hospital expansion will include: 

• Services for maternity, gynaecology and neonatology 
• A mother baby unit supporting the mental health of expectant and new mothers 
• A family birth centre 
• Obstetrics theatres 
• Outpatient clinics.  

Upgrades to essential support services - including pharmacy, pathology, sterilisation, kitchen, and catering - will also be delivered as part of the major expansion. These enhancements will strengthen day-to-day operations and improve service delivery, ensuring patients, staff and visitors benefit from a more modern and efficient hospital environment. 

Early site works are now underway, with construction expected to commence in early 2026 and the new facilities scheduled to open in 2029.  

In October, Webuild officially commenced construction on the new Women and Babies Hospital located within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct in Murdoch.
